Cottage Daffodils Class

Cottage Daffodils Class

Intermediate Class: April 2010

As you can see, the class was beautifully successful in recreating the Daffodils in the Antique Tin which was resting on a Lacey Cloth with a Narcissus laying close by; and by the smiles on their faces, I believe everyone was happy with their slate paintings - and well they should be! One of the gals painted on a masonite panel which will be framed - which shows the versatility of decorative painting… It’s not just created on one surface and perhaps someone will paint this cottage still life again using the antique tin planted with some other flowers to use as a pair. (Sorry to Karen who couldn’t join us for the second class.)

Advanced/Intermediate Class:  April 2010

This was definitely an experience for these mostly advanced painters as much of the painting was done at a rather quick pace. Even so, every Italian, French and English country-side clay pot with their chickens, kitties, french pie crust pottery, hollyhocks, etc looked absolutely delightful. At the request of the students, we stayed an extra hour to finish up - Now we just need to add flowers or plants! Sorry to the two gals that couldn’t join us.

Beginner Watercolor Class: March 2010

Our Guest Instructor, Elaine Walker, led her watercolor class to a beautifully painted winter scene complete with a charming cabin surrounded by a wintry scape of snowy hills and trees under a cloudy sky.  Mattes were provided in the student’s choice of color to complement their painting. A fun time was had by all - Thank you, Elaine!

Beginner Class Projects: March 2010

Our littles Hares were all quite sassy-looking. We learned that depth or shadows can sometimes be created by starting out very dark and building the lights/highlights atop in layers with stippling. Washing of colors to either glaze or tint can warm up a painting in a subtle way. The Cosmos and Bumble Bee helped reinforce Floating color to add shadow/separation of the petals and tuck the bee’s wings under his round body. It was a great class! (So sorry one of the students could not be included in this photo. )
